The North Norfolk coastal village of Stiffkey is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has one of the richest saltmarshes for wildlife in the country, providing excellent opportunities for both ornithology and walking. A short stroll from the cottage, is one of the largest expanses of undeveloped coastal habitats of its type in Europe. Blakeney National Nature Reserve is within the ownership of the National Trust. It includes Blakeney Point, Blakeney Freshes, Morston and Stiffkey Marshes and supports a wide range of coastal plant and bird communities, with many nationally important species.
Perfectly located between Blakeney and Wells-Next-The-Sea, for easy access to all the attractions this beautiful coast has to offer. Peddars Way and the Norfolk Coast Path are a ten minute walk away. As a bonus, The Red Lion pub is a mere 30 second hop from the front door. A popular and classic country inn, it serves great locally sourced food and beer. It is one of a plethora of top notch watering holes and restaurants within striking distance of Old Charlie's.
The stunning award winning sandy beaches at Holkham and Wells are just four miles along the coast and we would recommend taking a boat trip from nearby Blakeney or Morston to see the colony of seals at Blakeney Point - a great unique experience to see wildlife in its natural surroundings. The oldest and most famous Wildlife Trust nature reserve in Cley, is found just a little further along the coast road and the stylish market towns of Holt and Burnham Market are just a short drive away.
